Teeth Whitening - at home

Dear Readers,

Tooth whitening at home is another option for tooth whitening and can be done under the supervision of the dentist.

It is different from the professional because the percentage of bleaching agent- Hydrogen peroxide or Carbamide peroxide, is lower. Đ¢his is the reason for the slower effect of the whitening at home. The time to get a visible effect is prolonged.

A specific part of the this whitening are specially designed trays. They are prepared after an impression of the patient's teeth. These trays have special containers for the whitening gel- more precisely on the outside of the teeth.

Another important thing is the whitening gel. During the dental examination the dentist checks the condition of the dental structures and gums and establishes the reason (s) for discolouration of the teeth. On this basis he or she decides what percentage of gel would be most appropriate.

Some whitening products are recommended to be applied once or twice a day, and others at night. The time required to achieve the desired effect of at home bleaching varies.

This depends on many factors.

The most important is the cause that caused the discolouration. If the problem is due to antibiotics or fluorosis, it will take longer.

I want to say something very important here. The stage of fluorosis or the degree of dental staining caused by an antibiotic is of great importance. There will be a whitening effect when the defect is mild, sometimes even if it is moderate, but in severe cases another aesthetic treatment is needed.

In any case, the dentist will decide whether whitening at home will work for you.

My experience shows that everyone wants to have white teeth and most of the time forces things to see the effect as soon as possible. But this can lead to complications.

My advice is that the instructions for using at home whitening products should be followed very seriously because irreversible damage to the teeth may occur. And please don't forget- Patience is needed.

If someone wants to see a dramatic change in his smile in a very short time, then professional whitening is the solution.

Faithfully yours,

Dr. Trenkova, DDM
